V20 - Market Day

At the end of last term, the students in V12, V16 and V20 undertook their product testing day for Business and Economics. This was the culmination of two terms worth of work for the Year 4-6 students. 

Students had to decide on a product to make from scratch to be able to sell to their peers during a “Market Day” that was designed to simulate a false economy. There was lots of learning involved with students needing to find appropriate recipes, interpret the instructions and convert cups to grams and millilitres before transferring this to a finance spreadsheet so that the ingredients could be ordered to make their products. This was a huge amount of work as there was lots of considerations such as food hygiene, advertising and budgeting effectively to be taken into account. 

There was a wide variety of products that were made on a very successful day that was lots of fun. Some of these included cheese pizzas, nachos, smoothies, different types of slime, calming fidgets, cookies, brownies and smores. With lots of music, vocal promoting of products and laughter, it was clear the students had a blast!

Values Awards

Our Values Awards are announced at each assembly. Staff are looking to acknowledge students who are demonstrating any of our 3 values, Respect, Honesty and Courage, throughout the school day. This could be in learning time, when moving around the school or visiting different areas such as the office. Below are our winners from the week 9 assembly.
