Diwali Celebrations
Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights and is celebrated by a large number of our families. This year we also celebrated at school with students sharing what happens in their families, the food that is eaten and the significance of this event. As a school, some of our students help make Mango Lassi with all students given the opportunity to taste it, along with some Indian sweets. So many students were brave in trying something new and really enjoyed tasting these treats. Students also made diya (lanterns) with their buddies and took part in drawing some rangoli at lunch time. We all really enjoyed this opportunity to celebrate with our Para Vista PS families.
Instrumental Music Concert
At the beginning of our school concert, we gave a small taste of the talents of our instrumental music students. These students choose to learn a musical instrument and each week, take part in a lesson with a specialist teacher. Last Monday these students showcased their talents to friends and family in their own concert. From Reception to Year 6, each student demonstrated their skills in their chosen instrument and showed huge courage in performing to the audience. Congratulations to you all on your performances!
Concert
Our end of year concert was a great success again this year with a really large audience enjoying the night of entertainment. Students practiced really hard over the last few weeks and this really showed in their confidence on the stage. Thank you to all of the staff for supporting the students and to Belinda Mentha for the extra tasks in the organisation and teaching of the items. Thanks also to Anne & all of the SSOs who supported by cooking sausages, serving, checking tickets and supporting students. We couldn't do it without a whole staff effort.
We'd also like to thank LJ Hooker Modbury for bringing along their coffee van and donating the proceeds to our school. We really appreciate your support.
Congratulations to everyone on a great night.
Children's University
Each year an opportunity is provided for our year 3-6 students to participate in Children’s University. The learning is led by the child in order to create greater motivation and engagement in wider activities. They can learn about what they are interested in! Every participating student is recognised and rewarded with a graduation ceremony and certificates, held at Adelaide University in Bonython Hall.
This year we had 20 students graduate with 30+ hours in their passports and all students were recognised for their achievements. The students were gowned up and were called out individually, greeted by Adelaide University's Grand Chancellor to receive their awards. Congratulations to all students who graduated in 2024.
