Visual Arts

Thank you for joining us to explore Le Page Primary School's very first art exhibition! We were thrilled to see so many of you come and celebrate the creativity and hard work of our students. Each piece on display is a testament to their dedication and artistic growth throughout the year. Your support and enthusiasm mean so much to our young artists. Thank you for making this event a special one!

A big thank you goes out to the Le Page staff and students who helped make the art show possible, especially Ms. Zehra and Mr. Bradley for their extra time and effort in helping to make this event a huge success. Your commitment is greatly appreciated!

PE

Over the past two weeks we have had a number of different programs for each year level.

The preps have continued to develop all of their different hand eye and ball handling skills by participating in tabloid sports. They have practised their skills over past few weeks which culminated in them working in a group and this time creating a score through a points system. They had so much fun with these skills and worked very well together.

The year 1 and 2 students continued to develop their skills of soccer. This including dribbling the ball, passing and kicking at a target.

The 34s started their bike education program with a class safety introduction and bike check before they completed their first practical ride this week even though it was quite wet. It was a great start to the program and the students had a great time.

56 students also started their first practical bike ed program working on skills which included changing gears, braking safely, head checks and riding in a straight line. They also worked on riding in a group safely and passing on messages from the front to the back.

The 56 students have also been introduced to the sport of golf. This is the first time we have run this sport at Le Page PS, and it included putting and chipping. It was a lot of fun learning a new skill and students loved the new sport.

Library News

It is that time of year again! Our next Scholastic Book Fair is coming up soon.

When: 25th - 29th of November, 8.30-9am and 3.30-4pm

Where: BER library

What: Books, posters, stationary and some Christmas surprises

We have done amazingly well in the past, and raised lots of money for our beautiful school.

This fair, the goal is an ambitious $6000.

If achieved, two staff members who will soon be revealed will be getting a "punishment" voted on by the kids.

Think Mr B's horrible haircut from last year, just bigger...

So come along and support us!

AES Auslan School Visit on Nov 29

Coming up on the 29th of November the team from Auslan Education Services (AES) will be visiting the school and running an in person Auslan session. One of the Deaf presenters from the videos the students watch each week will be signing about their life as a Deaf person, run an Auslan activity and  give time for student questions at the end. An interpreter will also be attending to help with communication. We are really excited that students will have this opportunity to interact with the Deaf community.

Foundation

Over the last week foundation students learnt to sign about time - today, yesterday, tomorrow, before and after. We also had fun revising our fingerspelling working in groups to match each letter with its Auslan illustration. This week we learnt the signs for different jobs. We looked up signs for jobs we were interested in as well as ones from our families.

 Years 1 to 6

Last week due to the cup holiday there wasn’t an Auslan lesson for years 3 to 6 but on Monday the Grade 1/2 classes were joined by a few of our 5/6 students who led and played some Auslan games with them. The students enjoyed having these special guests in class and so did I. This week students learnt the signs for ‘on the weekend’. In pairs students asked each other what activities they had done on the weekend and then each pair signed for the class.

Additional Auslan Videos for practice home

Auslan Education Service, the team behind our weekly videos and program, have launched an exciting new YouTube channel called Auslan Time with Geo. The short videos will cover a range of Auslan signs and topics as well as include some interviews with special guests. It’s a great additional resource not only for schools but also any student or family who wants to learn some more about the Auslan community, culture, and language at home. Head over to Auslan Time with Geo on YouTube to watch his first videos!

If you would like to contact me about the Auslan program then I am available on email at karen.dragatsikas@education.vic.gov.au or available at school Monday through to Thursday.

Dear families,

Here are some photos to share with you from the Band and Choir at the Term 3 whole school concert.

The Choir is open to Grade 1 to grade 6 and the band from grade 3 to grade 6 students. These students have been doing a magnificent job to come to weekly rehearsals as well as learn the words and accompaniments for the concert songs. We are now rehearsing for the Picnic concert that will take place at school on the oval from 6-8pm on Wed the 4th of December. Bring your picnic baskets and rugs and come and enjoy a fabulous concert. Dress in something festive to celebrate Christmas or Chanukah or Diwali or Kwanzaa.

Looking forward to seeing you then,

Yours Musically,

Miss Susie
