We're learning so much and building our stamina for learning every day. With such a small group, our conversations and respect for each other’s differences and learning styles have never been better. It’s amazing to see the Year 5/6s embracing one another wholeheartedly, stepping up as leaders with their buddies, within the school, and through reading at our prayer gatherings. Their teamwork and willingness to support each other make our community even stronger.

Maths
Our maths sessions begun each day focusing on mastering multiplication and related division facts, and it has been exciting to see learners grow in confidence and push themselves further. This week, our focus has been on data and graphing, specifically investigating line graphs and their purpose. Learners have now selected a topic to investigate and represent using a line graph, with topics including Nagambie’s weather over the last week, Aboriginal population changes since 1967, the number of teachers at St. Joseph's over the last 10 years, and Australia’s voting participation throughout history.
It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they explore real-world data and develop their analytical skills.

Together We Belong
Our theme for the term is "Together We Belong."
We launched this by exploring democracy, what it is, where it began, and how it works in our country. Learners shared their existing knowledge and expressed their ideas through the 100 languages of learning. Some leartners worked collaboratively to make a ballot box for our Choose Day activity suggestions, some made people paper chains and others created artistic representations of our school logo and parliament house.
Their reflections showed deep connections to belonging:
"Home is a space for family" - Tatum
"All our ideas and wonderings are discussed in Parliament" - Eli
"People can belong wherever they want" - Jack
"If it's got to do with the government, then it needs to be equal" - Ivy

Buddy Afternoons
On Monday afternoons, we meet with our buddies to share time together, making it a great way to start the week. What has truly stood out is the empathy, patience, and compassion shown by our Year 5/6 leaders. Through collaboration, we built paper chains, read together, and reflected on what care means to us, strengthening our connections and understanding of one another.

Swimming Sports
What a day last Friday was! We truly embraced what it means to be friendly, respectful, and willing to take risks. The whole day was filled with support, as everyone cheered each other on while racing down the pool. Many of our Year 5/6 learners showed incredible courage, taking on multiple 25m races to earn points for their team.
A special shoutout to River, who received the Senior Lifeguard recognition for his outstanding leadership, guiding younger learners, helping with activities, and giving his best effort in every race.
Hope you all have a fun, relaxing weekend ❊
