Dear Families,
Swimming Sports.
What a fabulous day last Friday was with our whole school swimming sports. It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance. All students participated in point swims for their House Team - either Mackillop (Green) or Malachy (Red) and then in 25 metre, or across the pool races as well as fun activities such as cork scrambles, egg and spoon races and noodle races. My highlight was seeing two of our youngest students compete against much older students in 25 metre races...and winning. what little champions we have in the making with Mila and Teddy! Congratulations to Malachy on a very close win - by 4 points!
The importance of Safe Parking and Crossing Roads
As the school year is now in full swing, we want to remind everyone again about the importance of safe parking around our school premises. We are very fortunate to have a school crossing supervisor so please ensure that you use this service even when you are crossing the service road -especially when you have children with you. If we don't use it we might lose it!
Welcome Night at the Splash Park
On Thursday night we had a great turn out at the Splash Park to welcome new and existing families to our school community. It was a wonderfully relaxed event where children played together, parents got to know one another and staff mingled making connections with families and children.
The Importance of Arriving to School on Time and Signing In at the Office
Each morning from 8.50-9.00am teachers mark the rolls and do a check in with their class so that lessons can begin on time. It is so important for students to be in class by this time so they do not miss any of the instructions/review elements etc. Consistent lateness (even 5-10 minutes) disrupts the students learning as well as the teacher's ability to teach the class without interruption.
If your child is late to school (after 9am) an adult needs to come to the office to sign them in so that Sarah in the office can adjust the rolls accordingly. We do not want to send out unnecessary texts/SMS's asking why your child is absent.
Thank you for your consideration with these matters.
Parent and Friends update
Our school has an amazing P and F who work tirelessly to help raise funds to improve our grounds and resources. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to help out where they can - the more the merrier!! Our next external event which is coming up is:
Rowing Regatta ticket collecting at the gate on Saturday 22nd March. This requires a number of parents to help as it runs from 8-2pm. We receive $1000 from this event for simply checking tickets as people enter the gate. This is also a great social opportunity to meet other parents.
If you think you are able to help at any of these event for an hour or so please either let myself or Louise Roberts know. A roster has been put on facebook and is at the office if anyone is able to fill a slot. The more the merrier!
There are still a few School Calendars available to purchase for $20 from last year's photo shoots (including our Foundation students from this year). see Sarah at the office if you would like one (or two).
I'm taking a short break for a week (from Monday 3rd-7th March). The school is in very capable hands with Ebony and Gab and Sarah in the office if you need anything.
Have a wonderful week everyone.
Take care and stay safe,
Maree
