Buddy Leader Program

Every Tuesday, our dedicated Year 11 Buddy Leaders run engaging sessions to support our Year 7 students in their transition to high school. These sessions provide a welcoming space to discuss challenges, develop essential skills, and build connections. Activities include sharing personal experiences, creating challenge maps, and learning about time management and organisation.

Beyond these valuable discussions, the Buddy Leaders also organise fun and inclusive activities such as sports sessions and an upcoming Easter egg hunt, fostering a strong sense of community. Through this program, Year 7 students gain confidence, guidance, and a supportive network as they navigate their high school journey.

Year 7 Induction and Orientation

Our Year 7 students received a warm welcome during two induction sessions on February 3 and 10, led by Mrs Anna Smith. Designed to ensure every student feels supported from day one, these sessions provided essential guidance for starting high school with confidence.

Students were introduced to their diaries as tools for managing schoolwork and important dates, reinforcing organisation and responsibility. They also received practical advice on uniform expectations, bus travel, and school navigation. Most importantly, we emphasised knowing where to seek help, fostering a culture of care and support.

These induction sessions were filled with encouragement, equipping our Year 7 students with the knowledge and reassurance they need to thrive in their new school environment.

New Wellbeing Structure

We are thrilled to see the positive impact of our new house-based wellbeing structure, which introduced Leaders of House to strengthen student support and community spirit.

The recent swimming carnival was a fantastic showcase of house pride, with students enthusiastically participating and cheering on their peers. The new structure has also fostered stronger relationships between students and their Leaders of House, ensuring additional guidance and encouragement.

Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce house shields, a new initiative designed to deepen house pride and unity. We can’t wait to see the lasting impact this will have on our school community.

Friendly Friday

With International Women’s Day this Saturday, 8 March, we’re excited to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives through this month’s Friendly Friday initiative.

Organised by the Burford and Student Care captains, this Friday’s event will begin with students receiving purple yarn, the signature colour of IWD as they arrive at school.

During morning Home Room, they will also have the opportunity to write affirmations honouring women who have positively influenced them. These messages will be displayed anonymously in the A/B block hallway or outside the library, creating a collective tribute of gratitude.

To further involve the school community, House Captains will distribute the affirmations throughout the week, ensuring a meaningful and heartfelt celebration.

International Women's Day Breakfast

Our College Captain, Lucinda, and Vice Captain, Eden,  attended the Council’s annual International Women’s Day Breakfast on March 7 at Park Proxi Hotel, Bowral, accompanied by Ms Jo Kirby.

This year’s theme, “March Forward for ALL Women and Girls,” highlights the importance of youth voices in the conversation on gender equality. Our students will be actively involved in the event through contributing to the panel discussion during the youth Q&A session.

We look forward to seeing them share their perspectives, inspire others, and represent our school community in this important conversation.
