What is SIM+?

SIM+ is a unique, compulsory subject for Years 7–10 that focuses on self-discovery, personal growth, and wellbeing. Developed in partnership with MyDesign, this program gives students the rare opportunity to pause, reflect, and actively invest in themselves without the pressure of assessments or reports.

The “+” in SIM+ represents the wellbeing elements embedded throughout the program, ensuring that students not only explore their Strengths, Interests, and Motivations (SIM) but also develop essential skills to support their overall wellbeing. Whether it’s developing a CV, starting a side hustle, or finding ways to contribute meaningfully to the school community, this subject empowers students to navigate life’s choices with confidence.

How does it work?

  • Year 7: Students are exploring their personal strengths, discovering their interests, and understanding what motivates and drives their decisions. Throughout Term 1, they engage in reflective practices to gain deeper self-awareness.
  • Years 8 & 9: Students are activating their strengths by taking on micro-initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of both students and staff. These projects might involve redesigning school spaces, introducing mindfulness activities to the community, or leading other impactful initiatives within the school.
  • Year 10: Students are focusing on their future by exploring various career pathways, identifying their purpose, and setting long-term aspirations. They engage in activities that help them plan and prepare for their next steps after school.

With no formal assessments, SIM+ creates space for meaningful conversations, personal exploration, and wellbeing practices like journaling, walking in nature, and mindful connection practices. Across four periods per fortnight (3 in Year 10), students gain insight into who they are and how they can shape their world.

SIM+ isn’t just a subject—it’s an investment in themselves.
