Sustainability in Action

Our School Sustainability Program for 2025 has commenced well with a range of activities underway.
WELCOME BBQ - At this event we organised a fresh produce and plant stall. We sold pumpkin, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, herbs, zucchini and silverbeet all harvested from our school garden. Thank you to everyone who supported our stall. We raised $98.
CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY - We ran a school event to support this initiative this week. All classes cleaned up different areas around the school grounds and learning spaces doing an excellent job and showing pride in our schools. Well done to our Grade 6 Sustainability Leaders who helped to organise this event.
HARVEST TIME - Recently our students helped to harvest a big crop of potatoes and pumpkins from our new Emmaus Market garden. We couldn’t believe how many potatoes were on each plant. Our pumpkins are huge and some have already been picked.
GARDEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Can you spare an hour or two on a Thursday (weekly/fortnightly/monthly) to help as a volunteer with our school garden program? You will need a current Working With Vulnerable People Card, or keen to attain one. If you are interested in helping out please email: luch.brighella@catholic.tas.edu.au or contact the school office.
GUMBOOTS NEEDED - We are seeking donations of gumboots suitable for children aged 5 - 12 years to use in our school gardening program. If you have any unwanted gumboots in good, clean condition please send them along to our school office please.
