Principal's Message

Mr Ben Morgan | Principal

Dear Families,

We were fortunate to have Peter Mitchell (Mitch) work with our Grade 3, 4, and 6 students this week, sharing his wisdom. Mitch has been involved with John Paul II Catholic School for over 30 years. He even met his wife here, which is one of the reasons he describes it as a special place. Mitch also taught me and ran school camps when I was a student at St Peter’s/St Virgil’s College.

For all these years, Mitch has been sharing a consistent message about the importance of being thankful, grateful, and reducing moaning, groaning, and complaining. Our students love having Mitch (and Marty) with us, and they embrace the messages from Making Jesus Real. This week, the main themes were about how we can be team players at home (TAH) and team players at school (TAS). It’s about focusing on the positives and ‘dobbing on people who are doing the right thing’. In this short segment of the newsletter I have barely scratched the surface but I encourage you to ask your children about the key messages. Mitch’s messages align well with our student well-being program, The Resilience Project, especially its focus on Gratitude. Below you will find a prayer that Mitch shared with us which, although modified, was originally written by St. Theresa of Avila in the 1500s.

On Friday 21st March we will have our next community event, celebrating International Women's Day.  Students will be inviting one or two influential women in their lives to join us for an afternoon of activities. More information will be sent out on Compass in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all the families who came to our Welcome Liturgy and BBQ last week.

It was great to speak with you and to share some of the things we have been doing at John Paul II Catholic School. We look forward to many more opportunities for families to get involved this year.

Pick up/Drop Off Reminder

Whilst there is no signage, please be aware that our pick-up/drop-off zone is a “no standing” area, as it is a free-flowing lane. If you arrive early or cannot see your child, kindly drive around or park in a designated space while you wait.  As Catholic Education and civil engineers continue to review our car park, we ask that you drive slowly and carefully. We appreciate your patience as we work on these important, safety improvements. Thank you!
