Year 12 First Day

The atmosphere at Wantirna College was filled with excitement and anticipation on Wed 29 January, as Year 12 students returned for their first day back for 2025. After a well-deserved break, the senior class is now ready to dive into their final year of high school with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and determination.

The day started with excitement in the newly decorated Pathways Hub where teachers and staff were all present, offering warm welcomes and encouraging words to help students ease into the challenging but rewarding months ahead.

Their first day back began with a whole Year Level assembly in Period 3 where Principal Carrie Wallis addressed the Senior Class and emphasised the importance for our Year 12s to build strong relationships with their teachers, families and peers. The Year 12s were also introduced to their new theme, Thrive.

Year 12 is a crucial year in the academic journey, with the pressure mounting as students prepare for their final assessments, exams, and future plans. For many, it's a year that requires focus, discipline, and time management, as students balance academic workload with extracurricular activities and personal commitments.

As a result, the theme of Thrive was chosen to encourage our Year 12s to strive for success and thrive in both their learning and in building positive relationships. To cement their journey through their final year of high school, students received their Year 12 Jackets and Badges. 

During Period 4, the Year 12s paired up with the Year 7s and completed a Wantirna College Scavenger Hunt. This activity provided Year 7s with a chance to tour the school and meet some Year 12's that will be a familiar face and go-to person in the first few weeks.​ The Scavenger Hunt was also an opportunity for our Year 12s to demonstrate their leadership and fully embrace their roles as leaders of the school. 

Overall, the Year 12s made a positive start to their final year of high school.
