Senior School
Firstly, we’d like to take a moment to introduce our Careers & Pathways team at Wantirna College:
Darren Hoogkamer – Leader of Senior School (Pathways & Transitions)
Jessie Dennison – Careers Practitioner Lead
Tim Knowles – Careers Practitioner
Jennifer Silalahi – VET Administrator
We work primarily with students in our Senior School, from Years 9 to 12. Students are invited to message us directly via Teams or pop in to see us in the Pathways Hub if they ever need any support related to careers and pathways. Additionally, parents are welcome to email us with any questions.
We have hit the ground running with our work in the careers and pathways space this year! It’s been fantastic to meet so many students over the past week, and we are looking forward to addressing students in assemblies in the coming weeks, to deliver vital information about processes and upcoming events.
We have many exciting things planned for 2025, kicking off with some key dates below:
Wed 12 Feb: Honour Roll Assembly
Wed 19 Mar: Year 9 Morrisby profiling and Mock Interviews
Thu 27 - Fri 28 Mar: Aviation Camp
Mon 26 - Fri 30 May: Yr 10 Work Experience
Wed 2 Jul: Yr 10 University & TAFE tours
In the newsletter each fortnight, we will post reminders and information that families need to be aware of. Additionally, we will be sharing editions of “Career News”. We encourage students and their families to peruse these, particularly if any of the topics spark their interest. If any queries arise from these newsletters, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Jessie Dennison or Mr Tim Knowles.
Class of 2024 Update
During the summer holidays, many of our graduating students have been receiving offers for University and TAFE courses, with offers still ongoing over the next two weeks. We are pleased to report that all students who applied for courses were offered a place in either a University or TAFE course. Through VTAC, we have seen students receive 152 offers (with some students receiving offers in multiple rounds), with a summary of institutions and the number of offers made shown in the graph below. (Please note that this graph only shows offer from courses available through VTAC. A number of our students have also received offers from other institutions, such as Richmond Institute, Box Hill Institute, Holmesglen Institute and Chisholm.)
We’d also like to acknowledge our Honour Roll who achieved an ATAR of 90 or above in 2024. We are pleased to announce that these students have received the following offers:
Finally, we would like to express how proud we are of our 2024 graduating cohort, who handled this stressful period with a high level of responsibility and resilience. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours and hope to hear updates from you in the coming years!
