Student Wellbeing

Promoting Safe and Balanced Digital Use in Our School

In today's digital age, technology plays a key role in education and daily life. At The King’s College, we are committed to ensuring that students develop the skills they need to use technology safely, responsibly, and effectively.

Our approach is guided by the Digital Intelligence (DQ) Framework, which outlines key areas of digital competency. Over the next 2-3 years, we will work through the different areas to help students build strong digital habits.

This term, our focus is on Digital Use – helping students understand how to engage with technology in a balanced, healthy, and civic-minded way. Young people, whose brains are still developing, need guidance in managing screen time, recognising the effects of excessive device use, and learning the importance of taking breaks from technology to support their physical and emotional well-being.

Through engaging lessons, discussions, and reminders and tips from staff, students across both primary and secondary levels will explore strategies for maintaining a healthy relationship with technology. By fostering these essential digital habits, we aim to equip our students with the knowledge they need to navigate the digital world responsibly.

We look forward to working together – students, staff, and families – to build a strong foundation for digital well-being in our school community.
