Annual NEST's Bake Sale
The Nossal Environmental and Sustainability Team (NEST) kicked off the year with our highly anticipated bake sale, held during the Nossal Swimming Carnival.
This event was not only our first fundraiser of the year but also provided an opportunity to raise awareness about our club’s mission and goals to the new Year 9s. The focus of the bake sale was two-fold: one, to generate funds for environmental initiatives, and two, to support meaningful environmental causes.
Preparation and Team Effort
Planning for the bake sale began well before the school year officially started. Our creative team designed a vibrant poster to advertise the bake sale, and we also put a call out for volunteers to help baking the goodies we'll be selling. The response was overwhelming—our members eagerly stepped up to the challenge. The baking session ran seamlessly, with everyone working efficiently to produce an array of delicious treats, including rich brownies, soft cake slices, and classic cookies.
The Carnival
Despite an earlier-than-expected finish to the swimming carnival, the bake sale exceeded our expectations. We completely sold out of baked goods. In total, we raised approximately $250, a fantastic outcome that reflected the generosity and enthusiasm of our school.
Looking Ahead
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to an environmental charity, highlighting our commitment to sustainability. The remaining funds will contribute to the NEST Summit, a collaborative event scheduled for Term 3, where we will bring together students and experts to discuss key environmental issues and solutions from different schools.
We want to express a sincere thank you to everyone who contributed—whether by baking, purchasing, or supporting the event in any way. Your generosity and enthusiasm made this bake sale a huge success!
