Junior School

Year 3 OLP

Our Year 3 students, filled with boundless enthusiasm, embarked on their inaugural overnight Outdoor Learning Program at the scenic Point Walter on Thursday 9 November. Throughout the two-day program, students immersed themselves in a variety of activities. They assumed the roles of scientific explorers in nature, ventured on environmental bush walks along the Dyoondulup trail, identified indigenous landmarks in the area, and showcased their creativity by crafting sand sculptures along the sand bar.

As night fell, students were entertained by our guest Nyoongar singers, Gina and Guy, before settling into their dormitory bunk beds. Before bidding farewell to Point Walter on Friday, they constructed kites, took turns on the flying fox, and enjoyed the serene symphonies of nature among the trees.

Orientation Morning

On Friday 17 November we were pleased to welcome all 2024 Junior School families to the College for our Orientation Morning. This took place in the Lower Theatre, with refreshments served and all Junior School Leadership, Specialist Staff and Student Captains present.

Current students were part of this event, moving to their new classrooms for the morning. Students, both new and current, spent time in their new classrooms with their 2024 teachers, getting to know each other and getting a feel for what lies ahead. A group of current Year 6 students led the group through team building and icebreaker activities. This was followed by an information session about the Year 5 music program.

It was great to welcome new All Saints' College families, and we look forward to nurturing the young minds of our 2024 students.

Years 2–4 Science Talent Search

A group of Years 2, 3 and 4 students recently took part in the Science Talent Search. This a wonderful opportunity to develop interests in Science through a competition with a range of categories to suit a wide variety of abilities and interests. The competition helps students expand their scientific literacy by showing interest and understanding in the world around them and engaging in discussions about Science.

Students posed questions that were of personal interest and completed research and experiments to find out the answers. They were then required to present their learning in a one-minute video.

We are pleased to announce that several ASC students were finalists in this competition. They were invited to a special evening event at Scitech on 23 October, where they were awarded prizes and recognised for their achievements.

Winners from All Saints’ College were:

Year 2: Daniel Spanoghe, Lawrence Cobb and Axel Taylor on 'What is water made of?'

Year 3: Xavi Taylor on 'What is Air Resistance?'

Year 3: Claire Chin, Emily Chan, Jordann Soh and Eva McCurrach on 'Forces and Rube Goldberg Machines'

Year 4: Jasper Zhu, Bryce Murakami, Jayden Chen and William Suddese on 'Simple Machines and Rube Goldberg Machines'

Teen Triple P Seminar Series

On Tuesday 21 November we held the second Teen Triple P Seminar Series Session, ‘Raising Competent Teenagers’.

The session explored key components of this theme, including developing self-discipline, establishing routines, having supportive friends, following school rules, getting involved in school activities and being a good problem solver. With lots of enthusiastic discussion, questions, participation, relatable stories and laughter, we discussed these crucial skills that help our teenagers set themselves up for positive life at school and beyond.

Thank you to all the parents who came along and braved the heat! Our final session next Tuesday 28 November is  'Getting Teens Connected'. All parents are welcome to attend. If you have not registered, spaces are available you are most welcome to join us.
