Mr Butts' Announcements

Mr Butts gets slimed at the colour run!

How good was the Colour Run!!

Our recent colour run was an overwhelming success.  Well done to Sharna Sibio, Vanessa Sleeth and the P&F for organising the day and all our parent volunteers. Well done to students and their families for raising so much money for our school.

Farewell Mr Gibson!

I am sad to announce that Mr Gibson is retiring from full time work.  Mr Gibson has been a favourite teacher of many students since he started working at St Mary's in 2006 and we will all miss him.

New Staff

I am excited to announce that Carmel Hutchison and Jodi Cox will be teaching at St Mary's in 2024.  Both Carmel and Jodi are experienced teachers and both join us from St Mel's in Shepparton and they are excited to be on our teaching staff next year.

Congratulations Miss Calder

Miss Calder was recently been recognised by the National Teacher Certification program as a Highly Accomplished teacher.  Lauren was approached by the Catholic Education Office to take part in the very comprehensive and detailed process. What a fantastic achievement!

Congratulations Mr Preston

Mr Preston was recently named as the coach of the Victorian Primary School cricket team.  Josh was previously the team manager and will step up into the main role next year. Next step Australian Test team coach!

Opening of our Indigenous Garden

The opening of our Dreaming Garden is taking place next Monday 27th November at 9:30am.  All families and friends are welcome to attend.

Painting Program

The school is undertaking a significant painting program that will take place over Summer.  Work has begun on our front building with all the yellow colour being replaced with charcoal.  Our Gr 5/6 building will be painted inside and out along with the interior of the Gr 1-2 classrooms.

Gr 3/4 Maths

The 3/4 classes recently took part in a lesson with Andrea O'Connor, Michael Chisholm and Troy Firebrace from Catholic Education Sandhurst. The focus of the lesson was to integrate the Yorta Yorta Dungala (Murray River) Creation Story with mathematical concepts such as shape, location and measurement. What an engaging way to learn!

ICAS Competitions

Congratulations to the following students who did particularly well in the recent ICAS competitions, what fantastic results!

Ewan Ryan.  Science - Distinction (top 10%), Writing - Distinction.

Cherie Smith. English - Distinction.

Principal's Award

13th November

Logan Hyland

Logan's standards for his own work are very high, he sets the standard for the classroom even though he is in Grade 5. One of Logan's shining attributes is his inclusiveness. He is patient and such a calming presence. He will be a wonderful leader next year. Well done Logan!

20th November

Amanda Rollins

Amanda is one of our most reliable, respectful and hard working students.  She is a quiet achiever in and out of the classroom and she did brilliantly recently representing St Mary's at regional level for long jump.  Congratulations Amanda!

Mr Butts' Jokes!

A person knocked on my door today and asked for a donation for the local swimming pool.  So I gave him a glass of water!

Q: How do you cut the ocean in half?

A: Use a see saw!
