Principal's Message

Ms Alessandra Morrone

As we near the end of a busy term and year, we're excited about two important events that will wrap up the term on a positive note. The Marangaroo class awards which include the Year 6 Leadership announcements to be held this Friday commencing at 9am, makes our closing activities special. We're also eagerly anticipating the Year 6 Graduation next Tuesday, marking a new chapter for our graduating students. To end the term with cheerful celebrations, class parties are planned, offering students a chance to relax and share their accomplishments. This term has been filled with hard work and achievements, and these final events are a fitting tribute to our students' dedication and successes during this busy period.

2024 Class Structures

It is common to have several split classes across our school. This is a common practice in government schools and has been so for many, many years. You may wonder why this is the case. Each year our class structures are primarily determined by our student enrolments in each year level. The numbers of students enrolled in each cohort varies significantly across our school. For example, we currently have 24 students in Kindy and 34 students in Year 3. There are also recommended class sizes put in place by the Department of Education and once again these vary greatly across the year levels. This makes the process of forming classes each year a complex one. The process of determining classes is undertaken carefully, with input from staff and administration.

Our expected class structure for 2024 are:

  • Kindy – (Mon, Tues alternate Wednesdays)     Wallabies
  • Pre-primary                                                                Possums
  • E Hub SLP (K/PP)
  • Pre-primary/Year 1                                                 Magpies
  • Year 1/2                                                                      Bilbies
  • Year 2/3                                                                      Kangaroos
  • Year 3                                                                          Quokkas
  • Year 3/4                                                                      Echidnas
  • C Hub SLP
  • Year 4/5                                                                     Kookaburras
  • Year 5/6                                                                     Emus
  • B Hub SLP

On Thursday,14 December parents and carers will be notified of their child’s expected classroom. The staffing process is currently underway and is expected to continue into late January. While this is not ideal, it is important that the information shared is accurate at the time, therefore class teacher details will be shared closer to the commencement of the new school term.

Student Reports

Please be aware that Kindy–Year 6 student reports will be sent via email on Wednesday, 13 December, the final week of the term. We ask that your email address is up to date as this will be the address that reports will be sent to. If any updates to your contact information are necessary, please promptly provide these details to the school office. Should you have any inquiries regarding this procedure, feel free to get in touch with the school office. It is important that you download and save your child's report for future reference as the link will expire.

As this marks the final newsletter for 2023, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Thank you for working with us over the year to achieve so many great things. To our graduating class, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
