Junior School Report
Another Year Flies By
As we bid farewell to another remarkable academic year, it is time to sit back and reflect on the incredible achievements and growth of our Junior School students. The past year has been filled with inspiring moments, academic milestones, and personal triumphs that have truly shaped the character and future of our bright young minds.
Across the Junior School our students have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic growth, showcasing their curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. Their dedication to learning has been evident in the outstanding results achieved in various subjects, as well as their active participation in class discussions and extracurricular activities.
Our students participated in several collaborative and individual activities such as the Year 7 Camp Rumbug, the Challenge Program, Elevate study skills, City Experience, Interschool Sports, Athletics Day, music, KIOSC excursions, Crime Stoppers workshops, Swinburne Children’s University program, Art and Technology Showcase, and much more. Parents, guardians and teachers alike, should be proud of the way in which our students embraced the challenges and developed their skills.
Beyond academics, our students have flourished in their personal growth and development. They have shown resilience, honed essential life skills, and exhibited commendable leadership qualities. It's heartening to witness the positive transformation in each student, as they navigate the journey of self-discovery and forge their identities.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team of teachers, whose passion, guidance, and unwavering support have been instrumental in nurturing the potential within each student. Your commitment to fostering a love for learning and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment has laid the foundation for the success stories we celebrate today.
The Junior School team extends our sincerest appreciation to the parents and guardians who have been indispensable partners in the educational journey of our Junior School students. Your continuous support, encouragement, and involvement in your child's education have played a crucial role in their achievements.
I would also extend a special acknowledgment to our coordinators Mr Triegaardt, Year 8 Coordinator and Ms Kim, Year 9 Coordinator whose leadership and organisational skills have been pivotal in orchestrating a successful academic year. Your dedication to ensuring smooth operations and effective communication has contributed significantly to the overall success of our Junior School students.
As the wind down for the year begins, our Junior School students will be involved in several in-house activities including a day trip to Gumbuya World.
Orion Night, a celebration of student achievements, was held on Monday 11 December.
In 2024, students will commence school on a staggered program. Our new Year 7 students will commence school on Wednesday 31 January 2024 whilst students in Years 8 and Year 9 will return on Thursday 1 February.
Students will be participating in an alternative timetable for the first day. They will be allocated their locker, provided with their Semester 1 timetable and will engage other activities such as goal setting. As a result, students are not required to bring all their textbooks, and resources on their respective first day back to school.
Term 1 in 2024 should see our students wearing their summer uniforms. A description of the uniform requirements is provided in the school student planner and in the principals report. Scoresby Secondary College students are expected to wear their uniform with pride. As such we ask that students have no facial piercings, one piercing per ear with a stud or sleeper and hair is of a natural colour.
As we close this chapter and look forward to a well-deserved break, let us take pride in the collective achievements of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the unwavering support of our parents and coordinators. Remember, together, we have created a nurturing environment for our students, that fosters growth and learning. Let us continue the same in 2024.
Wishing everyone a restful, safe and rejuvenating break.
