2025 Round up!

Classrooms

In 2025 Holy Family continued to embed a whole school approach to explicit instruction in mathematics. Explicit instruction enables teachers to provide real time feedback to students and allow students to gauge their knowledge as new concepts are introduced.

With a shift to using available lesson resources through the MACS partnership with OCHRE we delved into using our data and knowledge of students to deliver lessons meeting the needs of the students.

New Programs

We implemented Numbots and Timestable rockstars from Prep - Year 6, a program that develops fluency in addition, subtraction and multiplication through personalised adaptations. Students have been keen to receive certificates and accolades. These programs are available for students to continue to practice at home over the holidays! Please make sure you have your username and password to log in at home.

Maths Family Night

Our Maths Family night had many parents and children attend to learn more about what they can do at home to support their child in their numeracy learning journey. Families participated in a variety of activities that they could do at home that would support their children in developing number fluency. We also identified the importance of evidence based pedagogy at Holy Family, the focus on explicit instruction to introduce new concepts, daily review to help the learning stick and the importance of fluency in number facts.

Results

This was the first year since the new structure of NAPLAN was introduced that we could examine growth results over time. Many of our students demonstrated high growth between years 3 and 5. This is a positive result, showcasing the learning the students are doing in the classroom.

Congratulations to our students on another successful year of learning!
