I would like to extend my thanks to all coaches and players for what has been a positive and successful basketball season so far. It has been wonderful to see the players’ skills and understanding of the game continue to grow, particularly on game days.
The standard of basketball has been impressive, and even more importantly, the conduct on and off the court has been exceptional. It’s fantastic to witness great character alongside great basketball.
In recent weeks, there have been many examples of teamwork and sportsmanship that have shone a positive light on our basketball culture. These moments highlight the importance of showing up, giving your best effort, and enjoying the game—regardless of the final score.
Uniform Reminder
All players must wear the correct uniform: matching shorts without pockets, game shirts, and be fully registered to play. We are confident that everyone has now completed the registration process.
Attendance
Please note that all trainings and games are compulsory school events. If your child cannot attend, please inform their coach so the absence can be recorded as explained. Unexplained absences may result in sanctions.
Weather Considerations
As the weather warms up, please ensure players bring water bottles and hats to training. Outdoor sessions will be adjusted for heat, but we encourage everyone to be proactive.
Extra Skills Session
On Sunday evening, our 1st Boys Basketball Coach, Jarrad Klose, will run a skills and development session in the school gym from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. This is an open invitation for any players who would like to attend.
Finally, thank you to all players and supporters for the way you are representing Kinross Wolaroi basketball both on and off the court. Your efforts and attitude make a real difference.

It’s been another outstanding fortnight of consistency and momentum for our Rowing squad. As Term 4 draws to a close, our squads are primed to cap off a brilliant term with strong performances at the NSW All Schools Regatta this Saturday.
Loreto Normanhurst Regatta – Golden Return
Our Kinross Wolaroi schoolgirl squad travelled to Penrith 40-strong for the Loreto Kirribilli Regatta and returned with an incredible 35 out of 39 athletes as gold medallists.
Eleven crews claimed victories, including a clean sweep of all three Year 9 Quad divisions. Our 1st VIII also produced a superb row, taking the win by a full boat length.
The highlight of the regatta was undoubtedly our Year 10 Schoolgirl Quads, who dominated their events with victories in four out of five divisions. A special mention must also go to our Junior Girls who, after winning their 1km division races, stepped up for their first ever 2km race — a huge milestone and a testament to their courage and work ethic.
Our Year 9 1st Quad coxswain, Grace Lowther, summed up the feeling perfectly as her crew crossed the 1000m mark, three lengths clear:
“Girls, this is absolutely phenomenal!”
Congratulations to all our schoolgirl rowers on an exceptional team performance and for the way they represented Kinross Wolaroi on and off the water.
Our crews continue to work hard in training, on land and on the water, as we look to accelerate into the NSW All Schools Regatta this weekend.
Welcoming Back Mr Richard Roach
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr Richard Roach has rejoined our coaching ranks. Richard was previously involved with Kinross Wolaroi between 2013–2017 in both Rowing and Rugby before moving on to Newington College. He brings extensive experience as both a coach and an athlete, having represented Australia in rowing and NSW in rugby.
We are delighted to welcome Mr Roach back to our community and look forward to the impact he will have on our rowing program in the years ahead.
Climbing the Mountain
A special thank you must go to Mr Lachlan Barrett for his fantastic support of our Senior Girls on their Mt Canobolas summit run last Saturday. Personal bests, consistent effort, and great energy were on display throughout the morning, with our senior athletes quite literally “climbing the mountain” together.
Thank you, Mr Barrett, for your ongoing support of the program and for the way you continue to challenge and encourage our students to push beyond their perceived limits.
Rowers of the Fortnight
We proudly recognise the following athletes for their attitude, application, and contribution over the past fortnight:
Congratulations to all recipients — your effort and example continue to lift the standard across the shed.
All the very best to all of our summer sporting teams in their upcoming fixtures, and to our rowers as they line up at the NSW All Schools Regatta this weekend.
Mr Ben Watt
Master in Charge – Rowing

ISA Tennis Report – Round 4
Saturday, 15 November 2025
The sun was shining as the KWS ISA teams arrived at the Bathurst tennis courts to commence an exciting morning of competition. The fixtures saw St Stanislaus' Evens take on KWS Odds, while Scots All Saints Odds faced KWS Evens. Our players were eager to put their newly practised serving techniques into action after a strong week of training.
The morning began with singles matches played under the Fast 4 format: two sets to four games, with a tie-break at 3–all. All students are ranked from 1 to 12, forming two balanced squads—Odds and Evens.
Our singles players demonstrated outstanding determination and competitive spirit across both fixtures. Special mention goes to:
Doubles followed shortly after, with further strong performances.
Overall, round 4 was a rewarding and competitive morning, showcasing great effort, improvement, and team spirit.

ISA Tennis Report – Round 5
Saturday, 22 November 2025
For the second week in a row, we travelled to Bathurst, this time with KWS Odds playing Scots All Saints Evens and KWS Evens playing St Stanislaus' Odds. The singles once again kicked off the morning and offered a display of strong skill and confidence.
A special welcome and congratulations to our new French exchange student, Nael Bevengut, who delivered an outstanding debut performance, defeating his opponent 4–0, 4–0. Further congratulations to:
The doubles matches followed, with excellent results:
A sincere thank-you goes to all parents and supporters who travelled to Bathurst. Your presence created a positive and encouraging environment, and the students greatly appreciated your support.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our final match of the year—Round 6 at home in Orange on Saturday, 29 November.
Ollie Hyde, Captain of Tennis

Phoebe Johnston has been selected for the NSW All Schools team and played with the Breakers (Opens NSW women’s team for a game). Also the Senior Women’s Western team.
Freddy Stevens has been selected in the NSW CIS Under 15 Cricket Team, to compete at the NSW All Schools 15 & U Cricket Championships in late November.
Fletcher Byrne U/17 NSW State challenge country Blues team.
Billy Baldwinson, Ben Brazier and Harry Yelland U16 Western Zone Bradman Cup team.
With our winter carnivals completed, and our summer season ahead I’d like to share a few very exciting updates. Firstly, a big congratulations to recent graduate Annabel Arnot. Annabel has received recognition for her contribution to ISA swimming, representing ISA right through from year 7 to year 12. She has also been the recipient of the Hancock Prospecting Swimming Scholarship to attend Bond University from 2026, on the Gold Coast – one of Australia’s premier swim teams.
Currently, Kinross Swimming is experiencing the largest number of swimmers in our squads, especially our fitness squad. It’s exciting to see athletes from a range of other sports giving swimming a go. Our current training focus is building towards state which is held in Sydney from the 13th – 19th December, and then towards Nationals on the Gold Coast in April.
Over the school holidays we will still be running our fitness squads, so if you’re interested, please reach out to Brandon Lawrence or myself.
Thank you.
