Mini Gingerbread House Competition

As part of the Unit 4 VCE-VM Literacy ‘Step Up’ curriculum, students spent time learning to identify and explain the key features of a high-quality procedural text.
To support this learning, teachers modelled the process of making a mini gingerbread house, providing a clear example of how effective instructions are structured and communicated.
Using this demonstration, students began drafting their own detailed procedural texts, which will form their first assessment task in the new year.
The literacy class put their learning into action by assembling, icing and decorating their mini gingerbread houses. The finished creations were then presented and judged by teachers, providing a fun and hands-on way to reinforce their understanding of clarity, sequencing and precision in procedural writing.
Well done to all the students. The gingerbread houses looked amazing (and delicious)!
