English & Literacy

English

In Week 8, Yarrabing held its first TED@Yarrabing event. This was an opportunity for some Year 9 students to present their final English KLT, a TED Talk, to multiple classes in the cohort. They were tasked to create a presentation on an idea, which could include a potential solution to a perceived problem.

The quality of presentations was simply outstanding - their hard work was clearly evident, and their TED Talks had really resonated with their peers. It was heartwarming to witness the Year 8 cohort praising the presenters at the end of the sessions.

The TED Talks included the following presenters and ideas:

Pranav (8A)Neuroplasticity: How you can learn easier
Telani (8D)This is how learning sign language can be effective
Gungeet (8E)The importance of naps in schools
Jaskiran (8A)Tired minds, heavy hearts
Sarah (8D)Creativity and the mind
Cristvie (8E)Why sport is needed in your life
Sage (8D)You can be a Beatle

Congratulations to all presenters - it is very difficult presenting in front of a large crowd in the Theatrette, and you all did so wonderfully. Well done!

The English Faculty wishes all students a very restful break, and look forward to welcoming you back next year! You are encouraged to read a book or two over the Summer Holidays for leisure. Free memberships are available at Melton Libraries.
