Myall Creek
Year 8 students went to Myall Creek Memorial Site with Karen Tighe to learn about a significant historical event relevant to local Indigenous Peoples'. They have been completing a topic called 'Contact and Colonisation' during Term 3. This excursion allowed them to further enhance their in-class learning and was a valuable experience for all.
Ag Quip
Last week, our elective Agriculture and Commerce students had the exciting opportunity to attend the annual AgQuip Field Day. This event, one of the largest agricultural expos in the Southern Hemisphere, provided our students with hands-on experience and a chance to engage directly with industry leaders.
Throughout the day, students explored the latest advancements in agricultural technology, from state-of-the-art machinery to innovative farming techniques. They participated in various activities designed to deepen their understanding of the agricultural sector and its critical role in our economy.
The Agriculture students focused on emerging technologies that are shaping modern farming practices, including precision agriculture, sustainable farming methods, and advancements in livestock management. They had the chance to see firsthand how these innovations can increase productivity and sustainability on farms.
Meanwhile, the Commerce students delved into the business side of agriculture, as they spoke with industry professionals about the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural market and employment opportunities, benefits and diversity of careers in agriculture.
This excursion was an invaluable learning experience, allowing our students to connect classroom theory with real-world applications. The knowledge and insights gained from AgQuip will undoubtedly inspire and inform their studies and future careers in agriculture and commerce.
