Kindergarten - Family History

Kindergarten has been learning about history and a component of the topic included family history. Mrs Barnes from the administration office kindly came to kindergarten to talk about her family history, growing up in Papua New Guinea. Mrs Barnes talked about her large family, visiting her relatives in their village where houses are built on the ocean, explaining what a bilum is and its many uses, and she taught the students how to introduce themselves in Pidgin English.

Year 3 Dhiiyaan Centre

On Monday the 26th August Year 3 visited the Dhiiyaan Centre as part of our History unit. Students heard about the special connection First Nations People have with Country.

We also discovered that the Indigenous calendar has 6 seasons instead of 4.

Year 3 would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Jaimee Ross for organising the visit for us and to Racquel at the centre for sharing her knowledge with us!
