Term 3, week 3 and 4
About this week-
It was an enormous week in Prep Land! The fine motor room had been transformed into our own sporting precinct to celebrate the Olympics happening in Paris. The students completed a number of activities including ballon bats, bean bag throws, hurdling, hockey and gymnastics. The students who did the best job demonstrating the school values received medals and got to stand on the podium in front of their class.
Thursday was our very first Walkathon. Our banners were ready, our chants were loud, we walked briskly through the ice-cold air and got to finish off with icy-poles at the end of it. The preps said it was lots of fun but ‘VERY’ tiring, haha.
Finally, we celebrated 100 days of school on Friday. It was an amazing day with 100 themed activities in the classroom all day long. The amount of progress the students have made in these 100 days has been unbelievable to see. The students loved getting the opportunity to dress up and we appreciate the effort all parents and carers went to getting them ready for the day. It was a great day!
Literacy and Numeracy-
We introduced adding s to the end of words this week. With an s making a noun a plural ‘more than one’ and a verb move to the present tense ‘happening now’ eg. run = runs. We also introduced single syllable words with double d and g (odd, dd and egg).
We continued to work through week 2 of teen numbers, doing 15 to 19. Our brain sweats at the beginning of lessons gave us a chance to make the teen numbers in some fun and interesting ways. They particularly loved the scavenger hunt activity, where they got to run around outside and find all the teen numbers on the playground.
