Co-curricular

You may remember that at the beginning of June, Dr Lavorato wrote to the SPC community seeking support to fill in a survey from Strathfield Council, seeking comments from the community on the Draft Plan of Management for Hudson Park.

It is with confidence that I say the council were overwhelmed by the number of completed comments submitted by you. Council has received funding through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program for five improvement projects for parks in the LGA. The council have again submitted a request for the local community to provide their feedback on the developed draft masterplans for each of the sports grounds listed:

  • Airey Park
  • Begnell Field
  • Cook Park
  • Hudson Park
  • Strathfield Park

The College requests that you view and comment on these masterplans, within the community engagement period scheduled to end on Thursday 15 August 2024.

I am reaching out to you now for your urgent assistance in providing feedback to Strathfield Council regarding the Draft Plan of Management for Hudson Park and Airey Park. Your input is indispensable in ensuring the future of our College and our students’ involvement in our co-curricular activities offered.

These fields are crucial in the running of our College's Co-curricular Sporting Program and essential for the overall physical and mental well-being of our students. We hope your input will greatly contribute to council decisions to maintain accessibility and enhancing our needs.

For Hudson and Airey Park, it is important that we show support for the “Upgraded sports oval, with improved drainage, irrigation, lighting and fencing” and the “upgraded pavilion”.

Additionally, it's crucial for us to oppose the conversion of the “centre wicket from turf to synthetic” at Hudson Park. This opposition is key as we aim to maintain the ability to play Opens Cricket fixtures on a turf wicket during the Summer season and ensure the safest and highest quality surface for male/female rugby games in the Winter season.

Thank you once again for your support and involvement in this important matter.
