Reflecting in the first week of the School Holiday Program
As we embarked on a journey of fun and excitement during the school holidays, let's take a moment to reflect on the wonderful experiences our children have had during the first week of their break. From creative crafts to thrilling experiences, it was a week filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of fun.
The week began with a burst of creativity as the children dove into the world of crafting, making stuffed farm animal teddies. With colourful fabrics, fluffy stuffing, and boundless imagination, they brought adorable creatures to life, each one reflecting the individuality of its young creator.
Under the shelter of the gazebo, the children gathered with their teddy bears for a group photo before the picnic lunch.
Amidst the giggles and games, some of the older girls took on the challenge of completing various puzzles throughout the two weeks. With determination and teamwork, they tackled each puzzle with gusto, celebrating their victories and learning from their setbacks. It was a joy to witness their minds at work, sharpening their problem-solving skills with each piece they placed.
A day dedicated to exploring the wonders of the past brought us Vintage Day, where the children delved into the fascinating evolution of communication and technology. From old hand crank phones to sleek modern desk phones, they marvelled at the ingenuity of generations past. But Vintage Day didn't stop there – it was a treasure trove of discovery, with vintage scales, old keys, railway relics, and even medical therapy apparatus and apothecary bottles. It was a journey through time, sparking curiosity and appreciation for the innovations that shaped our world.
And what's a trip down memory lane without a nod to vintage entertainment? The children had a blast trying their hand at vintage electrical games, from classic Nintendo consoles to retro PlayStation favourites. With each pixelated adventure and nostalgic soundtrack, they experienced the joy of playtime across generations, bridging the gap between past and present.
Of course, amidst all the excitement, we made time for the simple pleasures of a day in the park. With sunshine on our faces and grass beneath our feet, we revelled in the beauty of nature, playing games, hunting for treasures, and basking in the warmth of togetherness.
And as the week drew to a close, we revved up the excitement with a wheel’s day extravaganza! Scooters and bikes were wheeled and raced all over the basketball courts. It was a whirlwind of speed and laughter, as the children raced and rolled their way to endless fun.
Last but certainly not least, let's not forget about the delectable delights that filled the bellies of each child every day. From savory sandwiches to sweet treats, our lunches were a feast for the senses, fuelling adventures and nourishing souls.
We bid farewell to the reflection of the first week of the school holidays. Next week we will reflect of the second week of the School Holidays.
