Positive Behaviours for Learning
As part of our ongoing development as a PBL school we continue to explicitly teach & model expectations from our matrix.
The foci for the next couple of weeks are:
Respect
We are patient
We use our manners
We use kind words and actions
We think before we speak
Responsibility
We move in a safe way
We follow the rules of games
Resilience:
We include others
We learn from our mistakes
These expectations will be explicitly taught during Wellbeing Hour & revisited throughout the days.
It would be great if you could also reinforce these expectations at home and ask your child/children how they are following these at school.
Aussie of the Month
The Aussie of the Month award recognises students for their contribution to our school community. Aussie of the Month Award winners are students who:
- Are role models for others
- Show consideration and respect for others
- Are inclusive and live our school motto: where every child is valued

Student Leaders News
Friendship Benches:
The SRC are excited to start a new project for the benefit of all students at OLSC.
Friendship Benches are wooden benches placed around a school. Students who are feeling lonely and need a friend or someone to talk to can sit on the bench. This allows other children on the playground to clearly see when someone needs support or a friend. They can join the student on the bench for a chat or invite them to play.
Friendship Benches can benefit all students, not just the ones who are feeling lonely. It helps students learn empathy by showing them how to recognize when someone else is in need and how we can be kind to them. This also teaches them to be an upstander —to recognise the feelings of others and to step forward to do something about it.
The money raised from our Zooper Dooper Fridays and Casual Clothes Days will fund this project.
