Welcome Back Message

Welcome Back – Week 1   Term 2

Welcome to Term 2!

As we step into the second term of the year, excitement fills the air, bringing with it reconnection, revisiting established routines, and a renewed focus on wellbeing. This week, our classes made cross-year connections. The spirit of togetherness is visible at our school, from community walks that include special visitors, yoga sessions for Prep - Year 6 classes, and a special hip hop dance class for Years 5 and 6, not to mention the positive, lively playground interactions had by all. Our wonderful Year 6 Community Engagement  leaders will host their first Term 2 St Columba’s kids this Thursday, which is the essence of school connectedness where all year levels mix to engage in games that are inclusive for all.

With the days growing shorter and leaves beginning to fall, we prepare for the warmth of our woolly jumpers. While it's time for our full winter uniform, remember the necessity of hats for a few more weeks. As we navigate the changing seasons, it is important to help our students maintain a positive outlook and keep our minds engaged in the joy of learning. Your classroom teachers will keep you informed and updated as they will send reminders of reading with your child and conversation that can support and enhance connections between school and home.

We have several events planned throughout the term that continue our focus on connection. Following this week's St Columba’s Kids, two more sessions will be held later this term.  Assemblies will return from Week 3, the first will showcasing our Year 3 and Year 4 classes.  In May, we will have our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast.  Literacy Morning will demonstrate the learning that takes place during Daily 5 sessions.  We will hold our first STEAM day run by Year 6 leaders to wrap up the term.  We also want to note the exciting excursions planned across most year levels, carefully curated to deepen students' understanding through meaningful connections to their current unit of inquiry.

We are thrilled to introduce Compass as our new communication platform. We hope you are enjoying the convenience and efficiency it brings to staying informed about all things related to our school community.

As we embark on this term, let's not just stumble through the motions but actively seek out the opportunities for growth and learning that lie ahead. Here's to a fantastic term!
