Body Project Australia

The Wellbeing team is preparing to offer the Body Project Australia program.

Body Project Australia is an early intervention program for young people aged 14-18 years who experience body dissatisfaction. It is an Australian adaptation of The Body Project, an evidence-based program that has been delivered to young people worldwide.

The program aims to help students question, challenge and decrease the extent to which they ‘buy into’ societal appearance ideals through discussion, reflective writing and behavioural tasks. The program is suitable for students who identify themselves as being dissatisfied with their body. It is not a treatment program for disordered eating.

The program is:

A four-week program delivered over consecutive weeks.

Sessions are 1.5 hours in duration.

A group of up to 12 young people.

Year 8 and 9 students will be provided with information about the Body Project in coming weeks and will be invited to express their interest in participating. We will have follow up conversations with interested students to determine the program’s suitability for their current needs. If it is a good fit, parent/carer consent will be sought for participation in the program.
