Visual Art News

One of the great things about our art program that sets us apart from many other Primary School Art programs is the range of choices on offer for students at each art lesson. When students are able to control some of their choices, they feel a greater sense of commitment to and ownership of their efforts.

Senior students have the greatest range of options and this week they explored clay, acrylic paint, watercolour paint, watercolour pencils, charcoal or graphite. We even added Posca artist markers to the range of available medium, with some really surprising results. Check out Archer’s amazing colour blending using the artist markers.

Junior students had an introduction to water colours using the solid poster paints and cartridge paper.  Whilst we always celebrate with pride any completed works in the art room, we never emphasise creating art pieces over the more important work of just exploring and learning about the various mediums on offer.

Have a look at the amazing efforts of our students this week.
