Japanese

Dear Parents and Carers,

We thoroughly enjoyed our Japanese Day/Week festivities at Monty last week! From the beats of Taiko drumming to cooking Japanese foods such as udon noodles and rice balls, our students from Year 3 to Year 6 were immersed in an enriching cultural experience. Meanwhile, our younger students from Foundation to Year 2 enjoyed learning some graceful Karate movements and lovely Japanese craft activities that sparked their creativity.

Although we hadn't initially planned to have a ‘best-dressed’ award, the remarkable enthusiasm and creativity displayed by our students in their Japanese-themed costumes led us to create one! We are delighted to announce that the winner of the best-dressed award is Piper H from 1M! A truly wonderful sushi top and head band! Congratulations to Piper for her outstanding costume and enthusiastic participation.

None of the cooking classes would have been possible without the incredible support of our dedicated volunteers, particularly our parent helpers, Tomoe san, Naho san and Ryoko san. Thank you for everything you do for our students!

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who contributed to our gold coin donation drive. Thanks to your kindness, we have raised funds that will be donated to the Royal Children's Hospital, supporting their invaluable work in providing care and assistance to children in need.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved in making Japanese Day a wonderful success! And finally, as requested by many parents and students - here is a recipe for udon noodles!

Cook the noodles for 10 minutes and you can eat the noodle with soup or simply with a little bit of soy sauce or tempura dipping sauce with spring onions, grated ginger, or anything you fancy. Enjoy!

Best Regards,
