National Refugee Week

June 15-21 is National Refugee Week. This year's theme is Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community. Toorak PS has a very diverse community, which we value, and some of our families have come to Australia as refugees, having been on a challenging journey, escaping oppression to find safety in a new place. We want to recognise and acknowledge that diverse communities give us the opportunity to learn from one another, making us stronger and better able to face challenges together.

If you have been on this journey, we would love to hear your story. Please email me (toorak.ps@education.vic.gov.au) or phone the school as I would value you sharing your journey to Toorak Primary.

Wellbeing Open Morning -Monday June 16 at 9.00am

Come along to hear about why wellbeing is so important for academic growth and join in on a wellbeing session with your child/ren in their classroom.

 Cybersafety Update

We have had a concerning number of students reporting hurtful messages being sent between peers out of school hours. Most of these students are using platforms that are not age appropriate. Parent supervision is paramount together with conversations around kind and respectful communication online. I always use the line with my students and own children, if you don't want Grandma to read/see this, then it's not ok to send.

Not allowing devices in bedrooms is key and creating an understanding with your child/ren that these devices are not private and can (and will) be checked regularly. Below are links to some advice from the Office of eSaftey together with a Family Tech agreement which you may find useful.
