Wellbeing

At this point in our Wellbeing Curriculum, we are beginning to talk about the "tools" we can put in our "tool box" that help us to regulate our emotions and feelings.
We are going to start introducing a few different "tools" to the students so that they can use them, or add them to their "tool box" if they feel it helps them.
One type of "tool" we can use is a Sensory or Movement "tool".
Sometimes we need to do something that appeals to our senses, or involves movement, to get ourselves back into Green Zone. Chewing or crunching can be a great regulation "tool" to add to our "tool box". And best of all - we have extra apples and carrots at school that the students can crunch on if they feel the need, or want to try out this regulation "tool".
Has anyone ever noticed what Mrs Steele chews on to help her regulate? Kids aren't allowed this at school, but Mrs Steele chews on this a lot when she has to concentrate. She even chews on it when she plays netball! As a matter of fact, she is chewing it now so she can get her newsletter work done!! Hmmmmmmm.......
