Foundation
Inquiry
During Inquiry this term the Foundation students have been learning about the history of themselves and their family. On Friday of Week 4, the students shared stories from their past using artefacts. It was a great way to finish off this inquiry unit.
Readers
This term the Foundation students have started taking home their first decodable readers. During learning time we have been practising segmenting and blending words every day. It has been wonderful to see the students now applying these skills at home.
It is important students are reading at home and this is logged in their Home Reading Diary each night.
Please ensure students have their readers at school every day. They will take home a new book each Monday and Thursday.
Maths - Shape
This week the Foundation students have begun learning all about shapes in Maths. We started off our first lesson identifying, naming and making circles and triangles using string, pipe cleaners and playdough. The students were very creative and made some great circles and triangles.
Coming up - Swimming!
We are looking forward to our swimming program which will be held in Week 10 of this term, starting Monday 30th June.
Years 1 and 2
The Years 1 and 2 students have been enjoying exploring some art work around our RE topic of 'Pentecost'. Students then created their own Pentecost artwork.
Students enjoyed decorating their own piece of flag for our whole school National Reconciliation Week Mass on Thursday.
We have all been practicing our tricky word spelling. Don't forget to practice the tricky words in the back of your sign in home reading booklet.
Here is a link to the Year 1 tricky word 'because' song - you might like your child to sing this for you at home too!

Year 1 students have been enjoying lots of measurement in maths over the last few weeks. They have been using informal measurements to measure length, looked at hefting and balance scales to explore mass and have had fun comparing the capacity of various containers.
Year 2 students have been working on their use of adjectives in their writing. Students have been trying to include three adjectives, commas and the word 'and' in their sentences. We hope you enjoy some of their sentences below:
