From the Principal

We are now well into Term 2 and it has already been a busy and vibrant time at St Augustine’s College. Our students have had the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of learning experiences - excursions, camps, career days and sporting events - all of which contribute to a well-rounded and engaging education.
These opportunities are only possible thanks to the tireless work and dedication of our staff, who give so much of their time and energy to support student learning and wellbeing. I ask that we continue to treat one another with respect and kindness - our shared goal is always the best possible outcomes for our young people.
This week we also mark National Reconciliation Week, an important time for reflection, learning and action. Our Reconciliation Mass was a truly special celebration and we were honoured to welcome CESL Executive Director, Kate Fogarty, and Brigidine Sister, Cecilia Merrigan, to join us on this occasion.
We were also pleased to see such strong attendance at our recent Subject Teacher Conversations. These moments of connection between home and school are invaluable in building the partnerships that support each student’s learning journey.
As the colder weather sets in, we encourage families to ensure students are dressed appropriately for the season. If your child is unwell, we kindly ask that they stay home until they have fully recovered - this helps keep everyone healthy and well.
In exciting news for our global Catholic community, the Church recently welcomed Pope Leo XIV, the first Augustinian to be elected Pope. This is a moment of great pride for those who follow in the spirit of St Augustine and a hopeful sign for the Church’s continued journey of unity and renewal.
I leave you with these words from Pope Leo XIV: “Let us disarm words and we will help to disarm the world.”
This call to peace and understanding reminds us of the power of our words and actions in building a compassionate community.
