First Holy Communion Celebration

Last weekend was a very special time for some of our students who received the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. This is also called First Holy Communion, and it is an important step in their faith journey.

We would like to say a big congratulations to these students: Zara, Pia, Max, Winter, Sigi, Kirra, Chloe, Malakai, Dallas, Amelia, Hugo, Indiana, and Isobel.

They worked hard to prepare for this day and took part in a beautiful and meaningful ceremony. It was lovely to see their families and friends supporting them on this special occasion.

Sacramental Program Update

Our Year 5 and 6 students have begun their exciting journey in preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is a special time where they will explore the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives and learn what it means to be fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. Through class discussions, prayer, and reflection, students are beginning to understand the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit and how they can live out their faith with courage, kindness, and love.

As part of their preparation, students will also choose a Confirmation name, inspired by a saint whose life reflects the values of discipleship. Families are encouraged to support their children during this time by discussing what they are learning, praying together, and attending parish celebrations. Please keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers as they prepare to take this important step in their faith journey.

St Vinnies Winter Appeal – Help Us Keep Others Warm

As the cold weather sets in across Victoria, many people in our community are doing it tough. The St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal—a vital initiative that helps bring warmth, comfort, and dignity to those who need it most.

This year, we are inviting all our families to join us in making a real difference. The Winter Appeal is a beautiful way for our children to learn about compassion, generosity, and living out the Gospel values of love and service.

What Can We Donate?

We are collecting the following items to assist local families:

  • Warm clothing – clean coats, jumpers, beanies, scarves, gloves (all sizes)
  • Blankets and sleeping bags – in good condition
  • Non-perishable food items – canned goods, pasta, rice, soup, long-life milk
  • Toiletries – toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant

*Please ensure all items are clean and in good usable condition.

How to Donate

Donations can be brought to school and placed in the St Vinnies collection baskets located near the office. We will be collecting until Friday of Week 10.

Teaching Our Students to Care

Through this appeal, students are learning that faith is not just something we talk about—it’s something we live. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:40:

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Let’s come together as a school community to show kindness and support for those facing hardship this winter. Every donation—big or small—makes a difference.

Thank you for your generosity and ongoing support.

“Lord Jesus, help us to be kind and caring like you.

Teach us to notice when others need help and give us the courage to act.

Amen.”

Wishing you all a blessed week ahead.

Warm regards,

Jacqui Hayes
