Victorian State Budget 2025/26

The 2025–26 Victorian State Budget, released yesterday, places a strong focus on cost-of-living relief for families, with approximately $2.3 billion allocated to targeted support measures.  Other key areas of investment include health, early childhood education, transport and infrastructure.

 

In contrast, the school education sector largely maintains the status quo, with most programs receiving continued funding. Notable exceptions include the cessation of the School Savings Bonus and the conclusion of the Tutor Learning Initiative. 

 

Key investments in the education sector aim to provide support for families through:

  • Increases in the Camps, Sports and Excursion Funding (CSEF) to $400
  • Free public transport for students under the age of 18 years
  • Free kindergarten for three- and four-year-olds
