Year Level Captain's Report

Hi everyone, I’m Kevin, the Year 10 captain for this year! These past few weeks have been busy, with Year 10 and 11 students preparing for their semester exams, AFL matches and many interschool activities.
For starters, on Wednesday the 21st, BSC was lucky enough to host StringFest, a multi-school activity that combined string ensembles from Mentone Girls' Secondary College, The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School and other government schools from across the south-east region of Victoria. Together, we were able to rehearse and record various pieces on our instruments! Special thanks to Liz Freemantle, Head of Strings at St Margaret’s School in Berwick, for guest conducting!
For Year 10s, our Community Connections program is well underway! As the name suggests, this program aims to further connect the school with its community. Students take part in projects, such as “Capturing Beaumaris”, a photography-based initiative to showcase the best parts of the community, the “Community Garden” project, where students help create a wonderful community garden, and similar exciting endeavours.
With upcoming exams (in Week 8) for Year 10 and 11 students, the pressure is on for our year levels to do well. Year 10s will be tested in Mathematics and English, and they will also have exams for any VCE 1/2 subjects they may be studying.
It’s great to see our year level working together for exam prep this week!
As Week 5 has passed, our Progress Reports have been released! This is a good opportunity to reflect on our current learning and see what we do well in and areas where we can improve, so we know where and how to work harder and set goals for ourselves.
Thank you for reading my report. I hope you have a good rest of your day!
