MUSICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM – MDP

Lessons for MDP are well underway for music students who have returned their contracts. Students are advised to check Compass to view when lessons have been scheduled and which room has been allocated for sessions.

MDP students are also involved with ensembles (bands). A reminder to also please also check Compass to see what room your ensemble will be rehearsing in and when this is happening. Lessons and ensemble rehearsals both show as smaller 'classes' on Compass timetables.

Please get in touch with your instrumental music teacher in your private channel/teams space if you have any questions regarding your lessons/ensemble. A reminder also to enable notifications for Teams channels so students can remain up to date with communication from instrumental music teachers.

A reminder for anyone who has not paid their fees yet, this needs to be done ASAP otherwise your lessons will continue to be suspended.

If you have any questions about MDP in general, or something that your instrumental music teachers can’t answer, please reach out via the MDP email:

THE KAMBRYA MDP COLLEGE CHOIR AND SENIOR VOCAL GROUP TOUR

Following up their impressive performances at the MDP Ensemble Concert, sixty-five enthusiastic MDP students braved the cold weather and strong winds to present four outstanding sets of music at both Bunjil Place and Eden Rise Shopping Centre on Tuesday, June 24th.

The MDP voice and choral program continues to thrive at Kambrya. This tour is just another example of the outstanding efforts and commitment of our students. Despite the cold, the Choir and Senior Vocal Group sang through all their pieces with professionalism, positivity and energy. The sounds coming from our vocalists had many passer-by’s stopping and taking the time to pass on their appreciation to our students and staff.

We are very proud of the way our students conducted themselves throughout the tour and of the amazing music they have managed to produce together.

MDP ENSEMBLE CONCERT 2025

On Thursday the 12th of June we had our Ensemble concert - a spectacular event at the Berwick Church of Christ. Over 200 MDP students, alongside the dedicated music staff and volunteers, collaborated to present an extraordinary display of musicianship and teamwork.

The concert featured performances from all 16 regularly rehearsing ensembles, as well as some special performances from our Piano students prior to the concert for their Piano recitals.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the MDP students and staff members for their exceptional efforts. A sincere thank you goes out to all the parents, friends, and staff who supported us.

MDP MASTERCLASS WITH GERRY PANTAZIZ, CRAIG NEWMAN AND BRETT GARSED

On Friday, June 27th students in the Musician Development Program (MDP) took part in a practical and engaging masterclass with three highly experienced Australian musicians: Gerry Pantazis (drums), Craig Newman (bass), and Brett Garsed (guitar).

As part of their enrolment in the MDP, students have access to exclusive opportunities like this, designed to complement their musical studies with real-world insight and professional connections. The masterclass gave students a chance to hear directly from professional, working musicians about building a career in the industry—covering everything from touring and studio work to improvisation, collaboration and professionalism.

During this truly inspiring masterclass, students had the opportunity to ask questions, observe live performance, and gain a clearer understanding of how strong musicianship and a good work ethic contribute to long-term success. The trio emphasised the importance of preparation, versatility, and communication in any musical setting.

Watching Gerry, Craig and Brett perform together also allowed students to see how ideas are shared and developed on the spot—highlighting the value of listening and responsiveness when working with others.

This was a valuable and down-to-earth learning experience for the MDP cohort, offering practical takeaways and renewed motivation. A big thank you to Gerry, Craig and Brett for their generosity and for supporting the next generation of musicians.

VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR

This year we are once again participating in the Victorian State School Spectacular. We have a mix of students from years 7-9 participating in both our Mass Dance and Mass Choir groups who have been working hard to be ready for the performance this September.

Excitingly we have 2 of our amazing students in the band, Luca Salguero on Bass Guitar and Nathan Cazar on Keyboard/piano.

We look forward to seeing them shine on the stage.
