Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Staff, and Community Members

Firstly, I wanted to say a huge thankyou to the Kambrya College community.  I am incredibly proud and honoured to have been appointed as the substantive Principal of Kambrya College after the Department of Education completed the process this term.

Having had the privilege of serving as a member of the Kambrya Principal Team for the past seven years, I have developed a deep understanding and appreciation of the strong, student-centred culture that defines our College. This culture has been built through the unwavering dedication and hard work of our entire school community — staff, students, and families alike.

It is an exciting time for our College, and I am thrilled to see our most recent Attitudes to School Survey results continue to strengthen. These results reflect the positive and supportive environment we are all striving to create for our students. I encourage you to read more about this below.

I look forward to continuing to lead Kambrya with passion, purpose, and a shared commitment for excellence.

I’m sure I am not alone in saying how quickly this term has gone albeit being another 11-week term.  It has been another huge term at the College with so many things achieved across a number of areas within the College.

Student Semester Two reports have now been uploaded to Compass. All parents should download them and facilitate a discussion with your child alongside their Learner Profiles to unpack them. Learner Profiles can be accessed in the students compass accounts. It is a great way for students to see in depth how they are progressing and performing within each of their subjects

Course selection processes have commenced for all students in Year 8 to 11 for our 2026 academic year. All students should be taking the time over these holidays to sit with their parents/guardians to review the year level handbooks which have been sent out via MS Teams and Compass. When completing the online form, please take the time to make sure you complete your preferences correctly. All students will be notified of their 2026 subjects towards the end of the term in September for Year 9 or early Term 4 for senior students.

At the beginning of Term 3 there may be some changes to classes’ timetables, including days of the week for some subjects, and in some cases a change of teacher. Wherever possible we aim to limit these types of changes and try to time them at appropriate times such as the start of a new semester or a new term. Unfortunately, sometimes they are unavoidable. If you have any concerns regarding these, please email the subject teacher or your sub-school leader to discuss this further. Thank you for your patience with these changes.

I would like to touch on our Kambrya College uniform. We have been actively working with our uniform supplier over the last few weeks as we understand it has been a challenge for some families to adhere to the College uniform policy due to not being able to purchase the items due to availability. During our last meeting they informed us that they have a large number of our polo shirts and Rugby Tops arriving over the holidays which will be ready for collection for the preorders and to purchase for families requiring items. If you are needing any items, please reach out to Noone Imagewear so that your child can start the term off in correct uniform.

We will be meeting again after the break  so that we are able to update our community  in regard to stock levels.

2025 Attitudes to School Survey.

Our annual Student Attitudes to School surveys is completed for 2025. This survey is completed by all students in the school and provides us with valuable insight into student perceptions about many different aspects of the College. We have now received the raw data in terms of Positive Endorsement, it will still be a while before we get our data compared to similar schools, network and state.

But as you will see in the graph below, this years results are the highest results Kambrya has achieved since the introduction of this survey. This is an outstanding achievement and it’s something that should and will be extremely celebrated across our College community.

What sits behind this data falls into 19 categories. This year we have made some significant improvements in 18 of the 19 categories. The 19th category was maintained at the same percent as previous years.

As always, we will celebrate this data but continue to unpack it further to plan for continuous improvements.

A couple of quick reminders for all of our College community. Firstly, can I please ask parents and caregivers to be patient with our front office administration staff. While they are here to support you, please note they are not directly involved in student administration and may not have detailed knowledge of your child's specific program.

Their role is to guide you to the appropriate staff member who can best assist with your enquiry.

Please also understand that the staff member you may wish to speak with may not be immediately available due to various commitments, but they will make every effort to get back to you as soon as possible.

Secondly, in continued support for Brentwood Park Primary School can I please request that no Kambrya students enter Brentwood Park Primary School until after their end-of-day bell. Can I please ask you to discuss this with your children as it is causing issues for the primary school being able to finish off their schooling day without interruptions.

Can I please ask that any Kambrya College student who needs to wait for a sibling wait on the grounds of Kambrya College. We have plenty of areas that students can wait undercover and supported until the end of the primary school day.

E-scooters and bikes are also not permitted to be used on the grounds of Brentwood Park Primary School at any stage during or after school. This rule also applies for the grounds of Kambrya College. All bikes and e-scooters must be walked through the schools at all times

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

To finish off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Kambrya College community for your hard work this term. It continues to make me humble and proud knowing that we have such hard-working staff and supportive community.

Wishing all a safe and relaxing break, and I cannot wait to see everyone again at the beginning of Term 3.

Kind regards,

Martin McDonald
