NAPLAN tests are part of the school program, and students are not expected to study or prepare extensively for them. The best way to support your child is to remind them to simply do their best. It can help to explain what NAPLAN is and the test format to make your child feel comfortable, but this isn’t essential, teachers will ensure students are familiar with the types of questions and provide all the necessary support.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) advises against excessive preparation or using coaching services for NAPLAN. To see examples of questions and the tools available in the online tests, visit the
NAPLAN Public Demonstration Site.
For translated information and resources for parents and carers, visit the
NAPLAN for Parents and Carers page.
Keeping NAPLAN stress-free and encouraging your child to try their best is the key to a positive experience!
Packing a healthy lunch box can sometimes feel like solving a tricky puzzle, especially if, like me, your kids have very particular tastes and aren’t shy about telling you exactly what they will and won’t eat! (One of mine once declared, “Not that again, Dad!”). If that sounds familiar, you’re definitely not alone!
A lunch box filled with healthy choices helps children stay active, alert, and ready to learn and play all day long. To make packing lunch boxes a little easier (and less stressful), here are great, parent-friendly resources full of simple, tasty ideas:
Healthy Eating Active Living – Discover how good food combined with active play helps children thrive.
My little experts have definitely taught me that variety and creativity are key, sometimes it’s all about disguising veggies in fun ways or sneaking in new flavours alongside their favourites. Fresh fruit, colourful veggies, whole grains, and some lean protein are great staples to aim for. And don’t forget a water bottle; hydration is just as important for those busy school days!
Remember, even small changes add up. Making healthy lunch boxes a regular habit helps kids have the fuel they need to be their best.
