🌟 Principal’s Report – Welcome Back 2026 🌟

Ā

Welcome back to all our Monash SDS families for the 2026 school year. I hope the holiday period provided opportunities for rest, connection and time with those who matter most.

Last week’s Family Welcome Back BBQ was an outstanding success. With the animal farm delighting students, the ice cream truck creating excitement, the BBQ bringing everyone together, and perfect weather to top it off — it was the largest turnout we have ever had.

More importantly, it was a powerful reminder of what makes Monash SDS special — our strong sense of community.

Seeing families reconnect, new families introduced, staff engaging with students outside the classroom, and children proudly showing their parents around our school reinforced something we deeply value:

ā€œAlone we can do so little; together we can do so much.ā€ – Helen Keller

Strong partnerships between home and school are the foundation of student success. When we work together — sharing information, building trust, communicating openly and supporting one another — we create the conditions for every child to thrive.

At Monash SDS, our commitment remains clear:

  • To build strong, respectful relationships
  • To maintain high expectations with high levels of support
  • To foster a culture where every child feels safe, valued and capable
  • To ensure every student is given the opportunity to grow, learn and succeed

šŸ”’ A Safety Reminder

As part of maintaining a safe environment for all students, I would like to remind families to please ensure the top gate near the swimming pool is closed securely behind you when entering or leaving the school.

This is the only gate that remains unlocked to allow access to the school during the day, and it is essential that it is shut properly each time it is used. Student safety is always our highest priority, and we appreciate your support in helping us maintain a secure environment at all times.

ā° The Importance of Arriving on Time

Now that students are settling into their new classes and routines, it is especially important that students arrive at school on time each day.

Morning routines at Monash SDS are carefully structured and play a critical role in setting students up for success. These routines support regulation, predictability, communication, and readiness to learn. Arriving on time ensures students can access these essential learning opportunities and fully engage in the day from the very beginning.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting strong routines both at home and at school.

šŸ‘‹ Welcome to Our New Staff

We are also very pleased to welcome the following staff members who will be joining us next week:

Sam (ES – Group 11), Jarrod (ES – group 14), Monir (ES – group 16), Clare (ES – Group 23) and Rizana who will be joining our office team.

We look forward to the expertise and energy they will bring to our school community.

Ā

As we begin this year together, our focus remains on strong relationships, consistency, collaboration, and a culture where every child is supported to reach their full potential. I am excited about what we will achieve together in 2026.
