Foundation

Class Information

The Foundation students have had a wonderful start to the school year and are beginning to settle into the daily routines with ease. Our year five buddies are doing a tremendous job to assist the Foundation students to make friends and to support them with everyday activities. We are finding that the Foundation students are becoming more confident to play with their peers as the weeks progress and not so much with the year five students, which is fabulous.  

READING AT HOME

All Foundation students have been provided with a reader bag, daily reading diary and a picture story book to bring home each night. Students are provided with a new book each day and we encourage the parents to begin the students reading journey by reading to them each night and asking them questions about the book.  

GOAL SETTING MEETINGS

Goal setting meetings are taking place this Tuesday the 17th of February and Wednesday the 18th of February. These meetings can be booked via PAM. Please do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher if you are having difficulty making a booking.  

FOUNDATION SPORTS DAYS

Foundation students have sport on a Tuesday and a Thursday, so they will need to wear their sports uniform on these days. Other specialist subjects and the days are included below: 

Tuesday – STEM and Physical Education 

Wednesday – The Arts and Italian. 

PUPIL OF THE WEEK

Each week, all Foundation classes will celebrate one student from each class who is their Pupil of the Week. Congratulations to the following students:

FOUNDATION LEARNING FOCUS

Literacy 

Students are learning about: 

  • Rhyming 
  • Syllables 
  • Identifying words and letters 
  • The difference between a word and a picture 

 

Mathematics 

Students are learning about: 

  • Patterns 
  • Measurement – days of the week
