Opening School Mass

Our Opening School Mass on Wednesday was a joyful and reverent celebration, shared with parents and parishioners at St Joseph's Church.

It was a special occasion as our School Captain badges were formally blessed, marking the beginning of our student leaders’ commitment to serve with integrity, responsibility and faith. We also blessed our class prayer cloths, which will hold a sacred place in each classroom throughout the year. These cloths serve as visible reminders of our shared faith, guiding our daily prayer and reflection.

We are grateful to Fr. Brian and Fr. Jackson for leading this beautiful celebration and for their ongoing spiritual leadership within our parish and school community. It was a wonderful way to begin the school year together in prayer, unity and hope.

Cross country

Due to wet weather earlier in the week, our Cross Country event was held over two days. Grades 3–6 competed on Tuesday, with our Foundation–Grade 2 students taking to the course on Thursday once conditions had improved.

Congratulations to all of our winners and place-getters on their fantastic efforts. Most importantly, we commend every student who participated. Their perseverance, sportsmanship and willingness to challenge themselves made the event a wonderful success.

And the overall winner - A first‑place tie with Mercy and McAuley! Proof that every runner’s effort counted, and the house victory was truly a team achievement.

Opening School BBQ

Our Opening School BBQ was a wonderful way to begin the year, warmly welcoming families back to school and giving everyone the opportunity to walk through classrooms and connect with teachers.

The BBQ was roaring hot, as was the weather, the atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, and it was lovely to see current (and past) students, parents and staff come together as one community.

NAPLAN

From Wednesday 11th March, students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy). These assessments provide a snapshot of student achievement in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy.

NAPLAN is just one part of our broader assessment program at school. It supports teachers to better understand student progress over time and helps inform future teaching and learning. The assessments are designed to reflect the literacy and numeracy skills students develop through everyday classroom learning.

We encourage students to approach NAPLAN with a calm and confident mindset, understanding that it is an opportunity to demonstrate what they know. There is no need for additional preparation beyond regular class learning, a good night’s sleep and a positive attitude.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher.
