Principal's Report

The first three weeks of Term One have certainly been busy meeting so many of our school community members. It was terrific to meet our School Council last week to discuss matters that affect our school. Listening to our parent and student members is always a wonderful opportunity to understand the specific needs of our families and what the students are hoping to see improve. This sharing of ideas and looking at solutions also assists us in determining the best path forward, which will be a necessary component of our DET School Review later this year in Term Three. Students, staff and parents will be able to provide feedback during this review that helps us then create a four year plan and associated goals and targets moving ahead. As a reminder to this week’s School Council membership post, we are looking for three parent members to join our School Council. If you are interested please contact the College for details.
As we have moved further into the term, I have been really impressed by our student cohort during our first whole school assembly, where we were able to formally acknowledge our new School Captains and other senior student leaders as listed below:
| School Captains | Adrick Widdowson (SRC leader) Erin McGinness Akira Parker Beau Beal |
| Yr. 12 House Captains | CAMERON: Noah Berry GREEVES: Tommy Devlin LIPSON: Macklin Pritchett THOMSON: Braydon Schlink |
| Yr. 12 Environment Captain | Milla Arklay |
| Yr. 12 Cultural and Language Captain | Gunica Saini |
| Yr. 12 Arts Captain | Harris Harris |
| Yr. 11 Year Level Leaders | Scarlett Pogue Vaeda Williams |
| Yr. 11 Sports Leader | Matthew Gilbert |
| Yr. 11 Inclusion and Diversity Leader | Lincoln Tait |
| Yr. 11 Cultural and Language Leader | Dwayne Dongon |
| Yr. 11 STEM Leader | Flic Thompson |
| Yr. 11 Arts Leader | Riley Walsh |
The assembly also showcased a range of awards and notices and an energetic musical performance by “Awesome Sauce”. Well done!
Safety Note: This is a reminder to all students riding bikes and e-bikes, and those that use skateboards, to be extremely careful when travelling to and from school. There are clear road rules that need to be adhered to, particularly at the start and the end of the school day, when there is extra traffic in and around the school. This means not being on the road and travelling slowly on footpaths, particularly as local residents are attempting to leave or arrive to their properties. We certainly do not want to have any accidents so please be respectful of those around you and always follow the general road and/or school rules when travelling to and from school.
As a final note, it has been a pleasure to visit more classrooms to view our staff and students in action. I am very pleased with the professional support and quality teaching being provided and the general levels of engagement in a variety of classes across the school. It was also fantastic to assist Year 7’s with their scavenger hunt and I look forward to sharing more positive learning experiences as the year progresses.
