Level One

It has been an exciting start to Term 3 for Level 1 students, and an especially exciting time for science!
Level 1 students celebrated Science Week, where our topic was “Nature’s Hidden Languages.” Students explored how we can find patterns in nature, including in the gardens that surround our school. We scavenged around the gardens and found beautiful gum leaves to turn into patterned necklaces. Students created a variety of patterns using their leaves and produced some wonderful pieces of art.
We also discovered how coloured food dye can be placed in a vase of water to change the colour of white flowers. Students made predictions about how long it would take for the petals, stems, and leaves to change colour.
Students enjoyed experimenting with different colours to make their own colourful water art. We used different colours to see how they would run and form patterns on watercolour paper when sprayed with water.
What an exciting beginning to Term 3! We all thought Science Week was a big success!
