Principal's Report

Dear Families,

We’ve had some lovely news to celebrate this week – congratulations to the Lang family on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby! Gabriel Josef was born on Monday at 5:45pm, weighing 4.1kg. Both Morgan and baby Gabriel are doing well!

P&F PIE DRIVE

A huge thank you to our dedicated P&F committee for another very successful pie fundraiser. I’m sure many freezers will now be well-stocked for those busy weeknights – such a great help for families!

COVID

Over the past week we have had two cases of COVID. Please test your child if they are displaying symptoms. Children diagnosed with COVID-19 are recommended to isolate. They should not attend school or childcare until 5 days after the date of the positive PCR or rapid antigen test result for COVID-19 and until acute symptoms of COVID-19 have resolved.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

Our first meeting for the term will be held on Monday 4th at 6:30pm, with Finance at 6:00pm. Thank you to all our council members for the time and care they put into supporting our school.

PARENT  TEACHER STUDENT INTERVIEWS

It’s been wonderful seeing so many families taking the opportunity to meet with staff and celebrate the progress students are making. We really value these conversations and the partnership we have with our families.

ATHLETICS

Our whole-school athletics day will be held on Tuesday 2nd September, with training starting next week. The Tatura Athletics Sports Day for Grades 3–6 will follow on Monday 8th September. These are always fun and memorable events, and we look forward to seeing plenty of cheering and support on the day!

DENTAL VAN VISIT

The Dental Van will visit our school next week to visit students with consent forms returned. We have not yet received confirmation of the days, but students will be seen throughout the week.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN results went home last week, and I’m pleased to share that our school performed  well compared to other schools in our network. A big congratulations to our students and teachers for their hard work and commitment to learning.

MOUNTAINBIKE CHAMPIONS

Over the past couple of months, Jake and Alex have been racing in the King of Ballarat downhill mountain bike series. The final round was held over the weekend, in the rain and mud, with Jake placing 3rd and Alex 7th, in the under 13s division. For the series, Jake came 3rd overall, with Alex finishing 7th. Congratulations guys!!

JEANS FOR GENES DAY

Junior School Council are encouraging students to support and raise awareness for Jeans for Genes Day. Next Thursday 7th August, students are allowed to wear out of uniform this day, but must wear jeans. Please bring along a gold coin donation to support this cause.

Jeans for Genes Day is a fundraising campaign that raises money and awareness for genetic disorders, specifically those affecting children. It's a day when people are encouraged to wear jeans to work or school, often in exchange for a donation, with the funds going towards research and support for individuals and families impacted by these conditions.

Have a lovely weekend,

Regards Filippa and Heather
