Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Semester Two! I can’t believe we are already half way through the school year; our Preps have been at school for two terms already and our Year 6 students only have two more terms of Primary School to go!
We are excited to begin a new term full of a number of events including our Trivia Night, Father’s Day celebrations, Book Week, and celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation...just to name a few! The main highlight will be spending the term preparing for our whole school production which will all come together for a “one night only” performance on Thursday 11th September.
Confirmation
Tomorrow night, some of our Grade 6 children, along with children from St Jude's and St Simon’s, will formally receive the power of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral. The word “Confirmation” means strengthening or deepening one's relationship with God. It enables a baptised person to confirm the promises made on their behalf at baptism. It is also a sign of full membership to the Catholic community, an opportunity for the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit to shine through in each and every person, to be Christ for others. St Teresa of Avila adequately sums up for us what it means to be 'Christ for others...' in her well known poem, Christ Has No Body. As Christ offered himself to God his father, so we too are called to follow his example of self-offering to give life to others.
Christ Has No Body
By St Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Congratulations to the following children who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation tomorrow night.
Logan, Mila, Aubrey, Owen B, Wrenae, Hamish, Samantha C, Zara, Samantha O, Chiara, Mary, Jasmine, Eva, Owen S, Ebony, Daithi, Harrison, Avery, Charlotte, Jackson, Owen J, Owen VG, Thomas, Vivienne & Audrey
100 Days of School
On Thursday, we will officially mark a significant milestone in the lives of our youngest students...100 days of school! It is an incredibly rewarding achievement of reaching the century - and a credit to the staff and parents of our Prep students who have helped them to settle into a new environment and routine. I’m sure you would all agree that they have achieved great things in their first 100 days, just imagine what they’ll be able to do at the end of Grade 6! Congratulations 2025 Preps!
Term 3 Punctuality...Students - Be on time!!!
As we begin the new term, we want to make it very clear that all students are expected to arrive at school on time. The roll is marked strictly at 9.00am, and any student who arrives after this time will be marked as LATE. Regular lateness disrupts the class and affects not only your child’s learning but also that of others. It is essential that families make every effort to ensure students are at school before the bell. Punctuality is not optional—it is a basic expectation.
NAPLAN Individual Results
We are proud to announce the release of the 2025 NAPLAN individual results for our Year 3 and 5 students, which were distributed to families on Wednesday 23rd July. These results reflect the significant academic growth our students have achieved over the past five years.
Our commitment to explicit direct instruction and the science of reading has been instrumental in this progress. By focusing on evidence-based teaching strategies, we have enhanced our students' literacy and numeracy skills, leading to improved outcomes in the NAPLAN assessments.

We are having a parade to celebrate all things books! The theme this year is 'Book and Adventure'. The children can dress up as any book character. There are a variety of costumes you may borrow in the Mini Space, to save expenses.
Please remember that children need to wear appropriate shoes for playing. You may need to send a change of clothes if your child’s costume is going to prove difficult to learn and play in. A variety of book related activities will take place during the week.
The parade will be on Monday 18th August at 9.05 am on the Basketball Court

Joke of the Week
A mother was anxiously awaiting her daughter's plane. She had just come back from a far away land trying to find adventure.
As the daughter was exiting the plane, the mother noticed a man directly behind her daughter dressed in feathers with exotic markings all over his body and carrying a shrunken head. The daughter introduced this man as her new husband.
The mother gasped in disbelief and disappointment and screamed, "I said for you to marry a RICH Doctor! A RICH Doctor!"
Final Thoughts ~ Mind Full, or Mindful?
We are often so busy in our lives that we forget to take time for ourselves. This past holiday break has been a great reminder to me to take a break and be more mindful. Mindfulness is a simple, effective and enjoyable way of taking some time out from the normal, but sometimes demanding, life we tend to live these days. It allows us to have a break from stress or focus on the important parts of our day and our life. Being more mindful in the workplace can boost productivity, improve memory and create a happier workforce.
It isn’t mystic or weird – it’s actually something you might be doing already without calling it that. And it doesn’t involve sitting on top of a mountain, cross legged and chanting! It is a kind of relaxation/meditation but it can be used sitting at your desk, walking or waiting at the bus stop!
It involves learning to focus on the here and now – but without trying to change things or judge them.
Mindfulness is not tricky to learn. Slow down and enjoy life! Good luck!
