Hospitality -

Welcoming All at Brigidine College, Indooroopilly

At Brigidine College Indooroopilly, the 2025 theme Hospitality – Welcoming All has shaped Semester 1, fostering a culture where students, staff, families, and visitors feel genuinely included. Pope Francis invited all of us to a ‘culture of encounter’ to meet Christ truly and deeply. To accept the invitation to encounter, allows each of us hear, see and do what is needed for others.

Our year began with a warm welcome for new and returning staff, followed by our Opening Mass, which commissioned our Seniors and invited families to gather in celebration. Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan delivered a keynote on values-based leadership, reinforcing the power of inclusive environments.

Hospitality has been actively displayed in our welcome of new students through House meetings, peer activities, and practical support. Seniors celebrated their final first day and Formal, while Years 11 and 8 students built connections at their social and interschool visits, respectively.

We extended our welcome to 2024 graduates and their families during the Academic Awards Ceremony.

Year 10 students marked their transition to Senior School in a special tie presentation Assembly that acknowledged their growing place in our community.

Service during Lent reflected hospitality in action.

Students led fundraisers for Project Compassion, outreach activities, volunteering with Rosies and Friends on the Street, offering care to those facing homelessness.

Our Formation and Retreat programs foster belonging and openness. Year 7 students were fully engaged by being welcomed by 2024 alumnae during a day of trust-building and creativity. Year 12s explored purpose and connection on retreat under the theme On the Journey: You are Enough.

Our Parents & Friends Association has also embodied hospitality through Welcome Evenings, Open Mornings / Day, with over a thousand guests and creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere. A highlight for our mothers and daughters is the High Tea event, where all share in the warm bond across the college.

The Mission of Brigidine college, Indooroopilly offers connections from student led tours of our community, to the community events where our school spirit welcomes all to be connect to something more than ourselves.

While Cyclone Alfred cancelled our International Women’s Day event, we later welcomed alumna Megan Kronk to share her inspiring journey on Brigidine Day. Cultural Diversity Day brought people together in celebration of heritage, with traditional food, music, and dress transforming the Curragh.

Hospitality continues to guide every interaction at Brigidine College, nurturing a community where all feel seen, valued, and welcome.
