School Mural
A big shout out to the wonderful Georgia James and Samantha Fuller who undertook the task of rolling on the undercoat/primer in readiness for our mural. We can not thank you enough - you both have earned SUPER STAR status!
Book Week 2025 & Poetry Walk
Children's Book Week is from August 16th to August 23rd. To celebrate this day we will host a special day on Friday August 22nd. The theme for this year is Book An Adventure.
We invite all students (and staff) to come along dressed as a character from a book, it is great if you have a copy of the book to bring along too, so we can see the stories that our characters are from.
We will host a parade from 9am (and will be joined by the Lockington Pre-School) and then hold our Friday assembly (please note there will not be an assembly in the afternoon on this day).
Following our assembly we will host aPoetry Walk in the main building. Each of our students will have a published piece of poetry on display. We invite all of our guests, students and staff to take a stroll along the corridors to enjoy the published pieces.
Parents and friends are most welcome to come along to watch the parade and stay for our assembly and join us for the poetry walk.
During the middle session of the day our students will participate in a range of literacy and art activities based around book week.
Lions Club Public Speaking Final
Two of our school finalists competed in the next round of the competition held in Numurkah over the weekend.
Rafael and Melania represented our school in the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 categories. Both delivered their winning speeches from our school based final. Mel was also required to deliver an impromptu speech around the question of "What foreign language should we learn and why?". Although our students spoke well on the day, they were not selected to move onto the next round.
We are so proud of both Raf and Mel and thank them for being such great ambassadors for our school.
School Council
Our first School Council meeting for Term 3 is on Tuesday August 19th and this will be an in person meeting held at the school at 6pm. Please send an apology prior to this meeting if you are unable to attend to ensure that we have a quorum at the meeting.
Playground Opening
The official opening of our new 3-6 Playground is on Friday August 29th at 2.30pm (this will be followed by our regular Friday Assembly). We invite family and friends of the LCS community to join us and to thank the sponsors who helped make this project possible.
That is all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
